Hey Beautiful!
I know there are tons of things to distract us these days, but do you ever find yourself in a moment of quiet solitude, wondering why you're even in existence?
It's a deep thought. A good thing to ponder, though.
I mean, there must be a reason. A purpose. Right?
I can't tell you everything you're here on this earth for. Lots of specifics, like who you should talk to about what today, and what your career should or will be, are things you'll have to discover as you walk through your life today and the tomorrows to come.
But there are some things I know about you, whether or not I've ever met you, because the Bible says they are true of all of us:
God made you. Whatever the circumstances surrounding your conception and birth, it was God who allowed you to begin your existence and who formed you from the very beginning. God doesn't make mistakes, so you are a person He purposefully made. (Psalm 139:13-15)
You are part of God's eternal plan. He knew about you and had a plan for your life long before you existed. (Psalm 139:16)
You have more value to God than mountains of diamonds or gold. He made you in His image and gave you immeasurable worth. No one loves you or ever could/will love you more than He does! (Genesis 1:26-28; Romans 5:8; John 3:16; 1John 3:16)
You are here to glorify God! There are some ways where that looks different for everyone, but we all glorify Him when we get to know Him through Bible-reading and prayer, obey Him, and tell others about Him. (Isaiah 43:7; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11)
You are here to fellowship with God. Even with all the people there are on this earth, and ever have been or will be, He still knows YOU individually! He wants to spend time with you and make Himself known to you. The best way for that to happen is to spend time each day, without distractions, reading the Bible and talking to Him. No fancy words or phrases are necessary. Sometimes God speaks to you in other ways, too, like through another person or a book or through a preacher. We need to be careful, though. Anyone can just say that "God told me" this or that, but if it's against Scripture, then it wasn't God speaking to them. We need to see what the Bible says about words or thoughts before we accept them as Truth. (John 14:23; John 17:21; Hebrews 4:12; Luke 18)
You are here to be a light to other people. Again, this can look different for different people, depending on how God gifts you and leads you to use those gifts. He didn't give us all the same gifts and abilities, but He had specific reasons for giving you what He gave you. Sometimes we waste time wishing we had the abilities someone else has, but we should be thankful for how God made us as individuals and do our best to use our gift(s) in ways that honor Him. (Chances are, someone admires your ability(ies)!) (Matthew 5:14-16; Colossians 3:17)
So, as you can see, you have a very high purpose on this earth, and you don't have to go it alone. As much as our society tells us life is all about us, isn't it actually kind of a relief that it isn't? It's comforting that Someone perfect is in control and that we have the choice to worship an eternal, all-powerful, yet personal, God, rather than money, fickle people, or material things that will fade away.

She Smiles at the Future
"Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future." Proverbs 31:25
Hey Beautiful!
Let me start by telling you that you are loved. Do you know that? Do you believe it? I may not know you in person, but I truly care about you. And I am absolutely positively certain that God loves you, no matter who you are, or what you've done or said or thought.
I remember being a teenager like it was yesterday, though it clearly wasn't. It's not an easy time, and the world is throwing so many different messages at young people, it can be hard to know what's reliable and true.

I remember being a teenager like it was yesterday, though it clearly wasn't. It's not an easy time, and the world is throwing so many different messages at young people, it can be hard to know what's reliable and true.
That's where I hope And She Smiles comes
in. I, and some wonderful guest writers,
want to help you sort it all out, to
distinguish what is true (and beneficial) from what is false (and potential for regrettable consequences).
The name And She Smiles is from Proverbs 31:25,
in the Bible. It says, "Strength
and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future." If we look at the verse in its context, we
see that this woman can smile at the future because of the wise ways she has
spent her time in the past.
The truth is that the future WILL arrive, no matter how far away it seems, and our choices today affect the future. A wise young lady will
consider the future as she decides how to live her life now.
God gives us some important guidelines in the Bible. This living Book is about as ancient as it
gets, yet is incredibly relevant to our lives in the twenty-first century. We at And She Smiles care about you, but God loves you perfectly.
We aren't here to tell you what to do or to make your
decisions for you. We want to give you
the tools to make your own wise choices.
How old do we consider a "young lady" to be? Truthfully, we aren't as concerned about age as we are about state of mind and spirit. If you're here reading this, you may be searching for answers or looking to connect or just curious; or you may be the mom, grandma, aunt, cousin, mentor, or friend of someone who is. If you're here, you count. :)
